Ultherapy is an ultrasound and a non-surgical laser that is the only FDA-approved treatment for face lifting. Ultherapy focuses on lifting some areas and enhancing wrinkles with natural-looking results. It enhances collagen and elastin with long-lasting results. It is unique because it uses ultrasound to find the exact parts of aging, as no other device offers a detailed practice. Ultherapy microfocused ultrasound with visualization precisely targets tissues at pre-determined, subdermal depths up to 4.5 mm—more than 100% deeper than lasers and 50% deeper than RF—without affecting intervening tissues or the skin’s surface. Energy delivered is carefully targeted, with spacing between each thermal coagulation point to promote healing.

ULTHERAPY TREATS DEEPER THAN RF & LASER

Radio frequency (RF) heat tissues “in bulk” using electricity. The majority of this energy is absorbed by the dermis at depths less than 3 mm, and treatment temperatures must remain below 43°C to prevent burning the skin. Factors such as tissue composition and exposure time make precise energy delivery challenging. Laser light energy is precise, but typically treats only superficial skin layers. Ultherapy ultrasound offers superior depth and temperature control to stimulate collagen production in the SMAS/platysma. And only Ultherapy is FDA-cleared to lift skin.

BEST CANDIDATES FOR ULTHERAPY

Lines and wrinkles on the faces caused by common facial movements
– A desire for softened or partially improved facial wrinkles
– Mandible (masseter) muscle reduction to create a slim jawline
– Grinding of the teeth at night
– Minimally invasive skin lifting when injected into the outer layer of the skin
– All-around skin smoothing and pore reduction
– To relax tense trapezius or neck muscle
– Slimming of the calves
– Preventing migraines
– Blocking nerve signals responsible for producing sweat

WHAT TO EXPECT?

You might face some redness, but it will disappear within a few hours. Some might experience swelling, tenderness, and tingling. However, all these side effects are small and temporary. The proven results of Ultherapy are clear, appearing over two to three months as new collagen works to lift skin on the neck, chin, and brow—as well as smooth skin on the upper chest. Results may improve over the following three to six months, and can last a year or more.* It won’t duplicate the results of a surgical facelift, but Ultherapy is a clinically proven non-invasive alternative for those not ready for surgery.

ULTHERAPY BENEFITS

Reduces the appearance of saggy skin, fine lines, & wrinkles
– Non-invasive procedure
– No downtime
– Natural-looking results
– Long-lasting results

PROCEDURE DETAILS

After cleansing the skin and identifying the specific areas to be treated, your Ultherapy practitioner will apply the ultrasound gel and place the smooth treatment applicator against your skin.

To customize your treatment, your Ultherapy practitioner will next visualize the best location for treatment through Ultherapy’s ultrasound imaging, in order to target the area(s) that will benefit you most.

During treatment, you will feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited under the skin, indicating that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Comfort levels can vary from person to person, but you may experience the sensation of heat and/or tingling while the energy is being delivered.

Recognized as the Gold Standard for nonsurgical lifting and tightening by an expert panel of physicians, Ultherapy is customized, so the length of your treatment will depend on the area being treated and your individual treatment plan. A face and neck procedure typically takes 60-90 minutes, while treatment for the upper chest (or décolletage) takes approximately 30 minutes.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is Ultherapy safe?

Ultherapy is a proven treatment with a well-established safety profile. It is currently marketed worldwide in more than 75 countries, with over 1.5 million treatments performed globally to date. In addition, ultrasound energy has a proven track record, with use in the field of medicine for more than 50 years.

What does collagen do? How does Ultherapy stimulate the creation of collagen?

Collagen is a natural protein that gives skin its youthfulness by keeping it firm and toned. As we age, collagen breaks down, and the result is a loss of skin strength and elasticity. Ultherapy uses microfocused ultrasound to generate a thermal effect under the skin. The thermal effect essentially jump-starts your body’s own process that produces fresh, new collagen.

How long do results last?

Since the procedure stimulates a person’s own collagen production, how long the results last depends on the individual. While results appear over two to three months, they can last up to a year or more. The treatment produces new collagen on the inside, but the individual’s natural aging process will dictate how long that translates into visible results on the outside. Future touch-up treatments can help provide more control over the aging process, which varies by individual.

Are there any side effects?

There may be slight redness that typically resolves within a few hours following the treatment. Some patients may have slight swelling, tingling, or tenderness to the touch, but these are mild and temporary in nature.

How many treatments does it take?

The majority of patients only need one treatment; however, some may benefit from more than one treatment, depending on how much skin laxity they have and their body’s own biological response to the ultrasound and the collagen-building process. Follow-up Ultherapy treatments each year may help maintain results.
