Noble Surgery, also known as paranasal augmentation, midface augmentation, or nasolabial fold implants, is an anti-aging surgical procedure we offer at LINE Plastic Surgery Center. Noble Surgery can treat the deeper laugh lines, or nasolabial folds, with a biologic implant. The name “Noble Surgery” comes from the elegant and noble appearance that results from this procedure. The mid-face area is one of the areas that tends to sink in with age, and our doctors can help you restore that volume. Unlike other non-surgical solutions, Noble Surgery can add a permanent and natural softer look of youthfulness and smooth out deeper laugh lines. At LINE, this procedure can be done standalone, or alongside other anti-aging facial procedures like Face Lifts.

BEST CANDIDATES FOR NOBLE SURGERY

Patients who have developed a concavity or sunkenness in the mid-face area with age
– Patients with deeper laugh lines that can’t be addressed simply with fillers
– Patients with a protruding mouth or gummy smile which can be corrected by augmenting the mid-face
– Patients who want a more elegant, “noble” look

CONSULTATION

Our doctors will first ask the patient about their concerns and goals regarding their face. Next, we will evaluate the patients’ existing anatomy, looking at their features and skin elasticity. It is important to take into consideration the midface with the upper and lower face, to balance the overall facial harmony. Once the patient and doctor have discussed and weighed several options to determine that the patient is a good candidate for Noble Surgery, a surgical plan will be individualized for the patient.

SURGERY DETAILS

Noble Surgery is a simple outpatient surgical procedure performed under local anesthesia and takes approximately 1 hour. Our doctors will make two small incisions inside the mouth. Biologic paranasal implants will then be inserted through these incisions, and carefully placed in the mid-face area to smooth out the laugh lines. After the implants are secured, the incisions will be sutured with stitches.

RECOVERY & POST OPERATION

– Apply ice pack (20 minutes on, 20 minutes off) 72 hours post-op to help with the swelling and pain. Do not apply directly to skin.
– Do not lay down flat to sleep for one week after operation. Keep your head elevated post-surgery as much as possible.
– Take painkillers as directed. Take antibiotics as directed to prevent infection.
– Walking exercise is possible immediately after surgery to help with circulation. Vigorous activity is only allowed after 2 months.

FROM OUR DOCTORS

“The “Noble Surgery” name comes from its naming in Korea, and I like it because it directly addresses the deep smile lines or nasolabial folds that we get when we are aging. A small implant can make a significant difference in depth, to help with the bone loss that occurs in that area due to aging

– DR. HSU

“When the fold between the nose and the cheek is very deep, this can make people look older and more stern. Increasing volume in this area makes the face better proportioned, refreshed, and naturally youthful. Using an implant similar to human tissue, I customize the implant shape to fill the area and create a younger looking face.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What will my Noble Surgery results be like?

Immediately after Noble Surgery you’ll experience some swelling and bruising, but this will settle in a few weeks. As you recover, you’ll notice softer nasolabial folds, erasing that harsh depth when you laugh or smile. You will also see a subtle but beautiful balanced volume to the midface, giving a boost of youth. The results from Noble Surgery will last for many years but will feel and move naturally.

What material is the Noble Surgery implant?

Noble Surgery at LINE Plastic Surgery is done with a biologic implant material called Alloderm or FlexHD. Alloderm is an acellular dermal matrix (ACM) made of real, sterile donor tissue that is made of collagen and from which cells are removed. Our doctors prefer this natural material as it is biocompatible with your body and will integrate nicely with your face. Over time, this implant will act as a “scaffolding” for which your own cells and tissues will take over. Alloderm is commonly used for other surgical uses like breast reconstruction.

Are there any Noble Surgery risks?

Fortunately, most of the major risks of Noble Surgery are very rare when booking with a board-certified plastic surgeon at LINE Plastic Surgery. You may experience sensations of numbness that should be completely resolved within six months. Following the post-operative instructions carefully will ensure you have a natural, beautiful result.
