Do you want a more desirable space between your nose and upper lip? Our doctors can accentuate the curve of your “Cupid’s bow” with lip lift surgery. This outpatient procedure can redefine the look of your upper lip from a thin line to an uplifted grin or show more of your teeth when you smile. Upper lip lift surgery is a cosmetic procedure designed to elevate the position of the upper lip, creating a more youthful appearance and enhancing the overall aesthetics of the mouth area. This procedure is often chosen by individuals seeking to reduce the appearance of a long or aged upper lip, increase the visibility of their upper teeth when they smile, and achieve a more balanced and pleasing facial harmony. During the surgery, excess skin is removed, and the upper lip is repositioned to achieve the desired results. This surgery is also known as sub-nasal or bullhorn lip lift. If you feel that you would benefit from an upper lip lift, feel free to contact us.

CONSULTATION
During the scheduled appointment, our doctors can provide you with a consultation for the Upper Lip Lift. We will spend some time with you going over your concerns about your facial appearance. You can expect to answer questions about your health history, discuss why you want to have the surgery, and receive a physical examination of your face. Our doctors will make recommendations as to what kind of treatment is or is not necessary.
SURGERY DETAILS
A lip lift using the bullhorn technique is a very common procedure. In an outpatient setting, you will be given a local anesthesia for your 1– 2-hour surgery. An incision is made under the nose so that a small section of tissue and skin can be excised. Then, the lip can be pulled up into a higher position and sutured closed. The goals of this lip lift are to show more of the red lip when the mouth is at rest and to reshape the Cupid’s bow to visually create a more voluptuous lip.

FROM OUR DOCTORS

“It’s surprising how much the upper lip sags and drops in position relative to the nose as we get older, and it’s equally surprising how much we unconsciously see faces with a longer nose-to-upper-lip distance as older. This quick procedure makes a surprising amount of improvement to the appearance of the lower third of the face.”
– DR. HSU

“Lip lift is a quick procedure done in our office. It only takes one hour, but the effects are wonderful. Many people don’t realize that a long upper lip makes them appear 10 to 20 years older. There is very little down time and the incision is hidden in the lines and shadows of the nose. As a bonus, the upper red lip appears fuller after the operation, which adds to your new youthful look. ”
– DR. YAO
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What about scarring?
The good news about the lip lift scar is that it is a miniscule scar most patients barely notice after healing. The incision will be securely closed with sutures securely and entrenched within the inner lip.
Are there nonsurgical options?
Nonsurgical options with injectable fillers are not as long lasting as surgery and will not give a patient the same results as with a surgical lift. You can discuss filler options with our doctors. We may be able to change to look of your lip with dermal fillers to rotate the lip up to illustrate a shortened lip.
Is this a Lip Augmentation?
No, augmenting the lip will make the lip bigger with implants or injectable fillers with the specific purpose of making the lip protrude and look plump. This will not solve the problem with the actual position of the lip. You will want to do more than just plump your lip to accentuate the shape of your mouth. Our doctors can help you determine whether a Lip Lift or a Lip Augmentation would best meet your aesthetic goals.
