CONSULTATION
Our doctors will first ask the patient about their concerns and goals regarding their face. Next, we will evaluate the patient’s existing anatomy, looking at the amount of submental fullness and skin elasticity. Once the patient and doctor has discussed and weighed several options and determine that the patient is a good candidate for Chin Liposuction, a surgical plan will be individualized for the patient.
SURGERY DETAILS
Chin Liposuction surgery is an outpatient surgical procedure performed under local anesthesia and takes approximately 1 hour. Our doctors will make a few small hidden incisions, beneath the chin and behind the ears. A small blunt cannula will be inserted through the incisions, using light suction and a back-and-forth motion to slowly loosen and remove the fat. After we sculpt the neck and chin areas, these incisions are sutured with stitches.
RECOVERY & POST OPERATION
– A compression garment that must be worn at all times for 72 hours, and at night for 1 week.
– Apply ice pack (20 minutes on, 20 minutes off) 72 hours post-op to help with the swelling and pain. Do not apply directly to skin.
– Do not lay down flat to sleep for one week after operation. Keep your head elevated post-surgery as much as possible.
– Apply pressure to area with a clean towel and call the office immediately in case of abnormal swelling, pain or bleeding on the operated area.
– Take painkillers as directed. Take antibiotics as directed to prevent infection.
– Stitches will be removed in 7 or 14 days after the operation at the clinic.
– Walking exercise is possible immediately after surgery to help with circulation. Vigorous activity is only allowed after 2 months.
